The Gladys Brooks Foundation Cataloging Office

The Gladys Brooks Foundation Cataloging Office creates catalog records for the collections of the Library Company of Philadelphia, including rare and non-rare printed books, pamphlets, serials, broadsides, and ephemera. Our staff set cataloging policy for rare and stack books, maintaining the high standards for Library Company catalog records. These records are created in accordance with the professional standards of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd edition (AACR2) and Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials–Books (DCRMB). The cataloging staff add, maintain, and improve records in the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), as a part of the Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries (PACSCL). Our staff also contributes expertise and records to the English Short Title Catalog, adding our holdings and new records to the database.
