Philadelphia lithographers advertised their services through a number of methods. Newspaper notices, business directories, trade cards, and circulars like this one were often employed to describe and show the variety of work possible with lithography. William Boell (b. ca. 1832) was active in Philadelphia from 1859 to around 1880 and specialized in the “Perspective Drawings of Machinery” that he noted in this advertisement.
