MARGUERITE ST. LEON LOUD (1812? – 1889)

Born Marguerite Barstow in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, Marguerite St. Leon Loud married and spent most of her adult life in Philadelphia. Her poetry appeared in the United States Magazine as well as in other Philadelphia periodicals, and she published a volume of her work entitled Wayside Flowers (Boston, 1851). Some of her poems were reprinted in Rufus Griswold's Female Poets of America and in the anthologies of Caroline May and Thomas Read.
