Information Technology & Digital Humanities

The IT Department maintains organization effectiveness, efficiency, and security by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies including but not limited to the local area network, backup and storage infrastructure onsite and in the cloud, digital asset repository, VOIP phone system, copiers, fax, online resources, and event audio/visual hardware.

The department also oversees the institution’s Digital Humanities (DH) program.  Planning, implementation, and maintenance of Digital Humanities projects is a team effort among the IT Manager, Digital Humanities Coordinator, Digital Collections Librarian, Digital Outreach Librarians and Director. in addition, IT manages the hiring and supervision of DH interns.

The IT Department staff represents the Library Company and participates in the activities of multiple organizations, including the National Digital Stewardship Association (NDSA), Philadelphia Area Consortium of Special Collections Libraries (, the Delaware Valley Archivists Group (, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC), the Philadelphia Digital Managers Working Group, Philly Digital Humanities Meetup (, and the Philadelphia THATCamp planning committee.
