Curators’ Perspectives: Exploring the Material Culture of the Book

5:30 pm: Reception

6:00 pm: Presentations by Library Company Curators

In conjunction with the Library Company’s current exhibition, The Living Book: New Perspectives on Form and Function, five of our curators will present on several aspects of material and book culture. Each curator will show twenty slides and speak on them for twenty seconds each. The 6min 40sec presentation will be followed by a 5 minute Q and A. This fast-paced presentation style allows our curators share exciting new thoughts and research in a fun and informal way.

Andrea Krupp (Conservator) – What is the Book?

Erika Piola (Associate Curator of Prints and Photographs and Co-Director of the Visual Culture Program) – Scrapbooks

Jennifer Rosner (Chief of Conservation) – Papier-mâché Bindings

Rachel D’Agostino (Curator of Printed Books and Co-Director of the Visual Culture) – Tactility and Technology

Sarah Weatherwax (Curator of Prints & Photographs) – Photograph Albums
