Chestnut Street, Sept. 1846 (Philadelphia, 1846). Wood block in colored ink.
Wagner & McGuigan relocated to this building at 116 (i.e., the 300 block) of Chestnut Street following the departure of original partner E. J. Pinkerton about 1845. The wood-block color printing technique used to produce this probable advertisement represents a process used by the wallpaper industry of the mid-19th century. Paper hangings were printed as lithographs as well.
