More Library Company Prints Added to World Digital Library

Almost 100 lithographs and chromolithographs from the Philadelphia on Stone  project are now included in the World Digital Library. The WDL, created by the Library of Congress in 2005 with support from the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), strives to make thoroughly cataloged digital visual and audio content of cultural materials from around the world freely accessible online.

Newly uploaded images depict Center City Philadelphia antebellum-era storefronts, the Fairmount Water Works, and panoramic views of the city drawn in 1838 from the steeple of Independence Hall. The Print Department is thrilled to be a part of this digital humanities project with such a worldwide reach.
