For Existing Digitization

Digitization at the Library Company of Philadelphia is currently open on a limited basis. Philadelphia area cultural institutions, shareholders, and current and past fellows of the Library Company will be given priority. All other requests will be accommodated when possible, though wait times may be long. Email repros@librarycompany.org to make a request.

The Library Company of Philadelphia provides open access to high-resolution, publication-quality images for free through the digital repository. To download an image file, navigate to the item-level record and scroll down to the section labelled “Downloads.”

Please include a credit line to the Library Company of Philadelphia alongside the image:

  • For web use, please include a hyperlink to the website, https://www.librarycompany.org/
  • For social media use, please tag the Library Company of Philadelphia, @LibraryCompany
  • For all other uses, please credit Library Company of Philadelphia alongside the image.

The digital catalog and website also include select images from collaborating institutions’ collections. Please note such identifications in the image caption or location field of the online record.  This material belongs to the identified institution and the Library Company is unable to issue permissions for use.  Please contact the holding institution to secure permissions for reuse.

For New Digitization

Requests that require new digitization will be subject to fees. A $30 processing fee plus $25 per image will be payable online via Square. The processing fee is waived for fellows and Library Company members at the shareholder level and above. Orders over $200 will receive a bulk discount. 

For Reference Scans

To request reference scans of material from the book collections, please contact reference@librarycompany.org.

Copyright

The user of supplied reproductions assumes all responsibilities for using them in conformity with existing copyright laws, and may be asked to supply the Library Company with a copy of any publication or project in which the images appear. Unless otherwise noted, the Library Company of Philadelphia does not claim copyright for materials in its collections.
