The Library Company’s Director of Research and Public Programs Will Fenton moderates a roundtable conversation with two honorees of 2020 First Book Award-recipient Lindsay DiCuirci and finalist Derrick R. Spires-and Walter Biggins, the Editor-in-Chief at the University of Pennsylvania Press, which published both volumes. This roundtable will place Colonial Revivals: The Nineteenth-Century Lives of Early American Books (Penn Press, 2018) into conversation with The Practice of Citizenship: Black Politics and Print Culture in the Early United States (Penn Press, 2019) as DiCuirci, Spires, Biggins, and Fenton take stock of the state of early American studies and the how research libraries and university presses can continue to support early-career scholars.
