Emily Guthrie joined the staff of the Library Company as Librarian in April of 2021. As Librarian, she oversees and supports the work of the talented staff of catalogers, conservators, curators, research fellowship managers, and reference librarians.

Emily launched her library career at the Winterthur Museum, Garden, & Library in 2005. At Winterthur, Emily was NEH Librarian for the Printed Book Collection, and in 2017 was promoted to Director of the Library. She also served as an affiliated assistant professor in the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, in which she taught classes in the history of the book, 18th- through early 20th -century design sources, and British Design History. She has curated numerous special collections exhibitions, including “Go to Your Room! Interior Design and the Childhood Imagination” (Winterthur Museum Galleries, 2017); and “In Fine Form: The Striking Silhouette” (Delaware Antiques Show loan exhibition, 2018).

Emily holds degrees from the Savannah College of Art & Design (BFA, Historic Preservation) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MSLS).
