The collection contains 142 views from a series of over 240 numbered, titled stereographs documenting the Philadelphia, Middle, and Pittsburgh divisions of the Pennsylvania Railroad issued by Philadelphia photographer Frederick Gutekunst (1831-1917). The photographs primarily depict railroad bridges, tunnels, and stations; towns; hotels; and natural formations along the lines of the Pittsburgh division. Images include railroad workers, locomotives, and railroad tracks.
