Mellon Scholars Research Fellowships in African American History
The Library Company of Philadelphia’s Program in African American History (PAAH), with the support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is pleased to offer the following research fellowships for 2023–24.
- Postdoctoral research fellowship. The stipend is $50,000 for the academic year (September 1 to May 31). In rare cases, the award may be divided between two applicants, each of whom would receive $25,000 for the fall or spring semester. Both senior scholars and early-career scholars are welcome to apply. Applicants must hold a PhD by September 1 of the fellowship year.
- Dissertation research fellowship. The stipend is $25,000 for the academic year (September 1 to May 31). Applicants must be in the later stages of research or writing.
- Short-term research fellowships. The stipend is $2,500 for a one-month period between June 1 and May 31. Applicants may be graduate students, PhD holders, or independent researchers.
