Mellon Scholars Program Workshop 2021 Participants: Sarah Snyder
There is so much to explore and understand about the world we live in and where we come from. These ideas are so important to understand as a future educator. The Mellon Scholar workshop through the Library Company, has helped me to further develop my own goals in order to one day become and influential historian and teacher. The program’s professional development and informational sessions provided me an opportunity to examine my own goals for graduate school and PHD programs. Being able to speak with so many different experts in the field of African American history, showed me just how influential a historian can be. In the fall, I will be a graduate student at Villanova University. This program is a general history program that will help me to achieve my goal of becoming a high school history teacher. During my time at Villanova, I will use the research and writing skills from the workshops and translate them into the classroom. With time, I hope to choose a specific topic of interest for research and pursue a doctorate degree. I cannot thank this program enough for helping me to align my goals for the future and prepare me for graduate school.
