Giving Voice Symposium: The Past, Present, and Future of Mental Health Treatment in America

Day-Long Symposium

Free & Hybrid

Thursday, December 8th at 8:45am-4:30pm ET

Join us for the culminating symposium of our Hearing Voices: Memoirs from the Margins of Mental Health exhibit as we explore the history, current state, and future of mental health care in America. From the development of the asylum and the advent of “moral treatment”, to psychiatric eugenics, to the rise and fall of institutionalization – and the differences in care experienced by patients of different races, genders, and economic backgrounds all throughout – we are excited to bring together these historians and thought leaders to examine the past, present, and future of mental health treatment in America by centering those who have been and will be impacted the most.
