Matson Book Manuscript Workshop Prize
The Program in Early American Economy and Society (PEAES) recognizes with concern the erosion in tenure-line jobs and university support for research in the humanities. To support colleagues who lack long-term or tenure-track support, PEAES is pleased to announce the Cathy Matson Book Workshop Prize. PEAES will host a virtual one-day book manuscript workshop for the Matson prize winner to offer support in revising their dissertation into a book.
The workshop will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time between the Library Company, author, two formal manuscript respondents, and other participants.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must have defended their dissertation before they apply. Preference will be given to candidates with projects that align with the mission of PEAES and who are not tenure-track faculty. Candidates are especially encouraged to apply who have entered secondary teaching, community college teaching, contingent faculty, or public history positions. Manuscripts may be considered for publication in the PEAES series at the University of Pennsylvania Press.
