What’s Cooking at the Library Company?
In March, 2020 during Pennsylvania’s pandemic stay-at-home order I, like many others, began cooking and baking almost compulsively, filling my freezer with dumplings, soups, and bread. Then I remembered this book from the Library Company gift shop, 35 Receipts from “The Larder Invaded,” by Wiliam Woys Weaver. The book accompanied the November 1986 through April 1987 exhibition, The Larder Invaded: Reflections on Three Centuries of Philadelphia Food and Drink. I figured I might as well start stress-baking for history.
Some experiments were more successful than others. You can read all about it, and maybe do some experimenting yourself!
